Foreigners in the Czech Republic

Are you interested in information about foreigners staying in the Czech Republic? If so, the publication "Foreigners in the Czech Republic", published by the Czech Statistical Office for more than a decade, is intended for you.
 
The publication comprehensively compiles current data on foreigners who have chosen the Czech Republic as their permanent or long-term residence, who have found employment or business here and who have resorted to the Czech Republic in the face of political persecution or the critical economic situation in their homeland. The focus of the statistical information is data for 2016, but often supplemented with time series of data over the past years.
 
The publication was created in cooperation with the Czech Statistical Office with selected departments of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Institute of Health Information and Statistics.

False News (Fake News, Hoaxes)

Social networks and newsgroups currently have a large number of migration-related reports. But many of them are untrue. A new trend is to re-publish old messages. For example, that because of the Muslims they banned the Christmas tree on the square in Brussels or about refugees at the Prague metro, etc. But how can we verify the truth of the information in the Internet environment?

Foreign language sings on billboards

At the beginning of November, public attention in Prague, Brno and Ostrava was caught by billboards with foreign-language inscriptions. Advertisements in Arabic, Persian, Burmese and Ukrainian serve as an expression of thanks to the Czechs, but it has not been clear for a long time. The People in Need organization behind the campaign said these were handwritten messages from four foreigners in a difficult life situation who wanted to thank the people in the Czech Republic for their help.

On November 24-27, 2017, a second meeting of the YOU ARE WELCOME project partner organizations was held in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The program included various lectures, seminars and workshops, as well as an exhibition, film screening, concert and other cultural diversification.

A very interesting deed was the Addart Addart project called "My Hero". The staff of the organization collaborated with refugee children to create comic superhero images that children invented. The results are beautiful and creative works. More information here.
